The Mahalo Promotions website represents a cornerstone project in my freelance web design and development career. Tasked with creating an online presence for a Spokane-based promotions company specializing in the music industry, this project allowed me to apply my expertise in WordPress, Divi, and custom coding to develop a site that is both aesthetically pleasing and functionally robust.

Design Approach & Features

Mobile-First Design:

Acknowledging the target audience’s predominant use of mobile devices, I prioritized a mobile-first approach, ensuring optimal usability and engagement on smaller screens.

Minimalist Aesthetics:

Embracing a minimalist design philosophy, the website features a clean and uncluttered interface, facilitating a straightforward user experience that focuses on content and ease of navigation.

Custom Coding:

To cater to specific client needs and enhance certain features, I incorporated custom coding, allowing for a unique and tailored web experience that goes beyond standard WordPress and Divi functionalities.

Challenges & Adaptability

User Engagement:

Recognizing the importance of engaging a music-oriented audience, I implemented interactive elements and a streamlined user flow, making the site not just a source of information but an enjoyable experience.

Ongoing Maintenance:

To ensure the website remains current and functional, I have been actively involved in its continuous maintenance and updates, reflecting the dynamic nature of the music promotion industry.

The Mahalo Promotions website has successfully served as a digital hub for showcasing upcoming music events and promoting artists. The site’s mobile responsiveness, coupled with its minimalistic yet effective design, has been well-received by users, leading to increased engagement and a positive reaction from the client and their audience.

The 2023 Graphic Design Grad Show website was a pivotal project in my academic and professional journey, where I embraced the role of Web Director. This project was not just a showcase of our graduating class’s talents but also a reflection of my ability to lead and execute a complex web design project under the guidance of my instructors and with inputs from my peers.

Design Approach & Features

Collaborative Design Process:

Working closely with my instructors and classmates, I steered the design process, ensuring that the final product aligned with the “3D” theme of our grad show and provided a cohesive experience.

WordPress and Divi Utilization:

Leveraging the flexibility of WordPress and the Divi Builder, coupled with custom coding, I crafted a site that was both visually appealing and functionally sound.

Comprehensive Content:

The website comprehensively presented the event details, showcased the works of the graduating class, highlighted the Graphic Design Club’s activities, and acknowledged our instructors and sponsors, creating a complete narrative of our journey and accomplishments.

Challenges & Adaptability

Balancing Aesthetics and Usability:

The challenge was to create a website that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also easy to navigate and understand. By focusing on user experience and a clean design, I ensured the site was accessible and engaging for all visitors.

Project Management:

As the main contributor to the project, managing the various elements from concept to execution was crucial. I employed strong organizational and communication skills to keep the project on track and aligned with our collective vision.

The Grad Show website was well-received, serving as an effective digital platform to highlight the talents of our class and the details of our event. It stood as a testament to my skills in web design and development, showcasing my ability to lead a project that demands both creative and technical proficiency.
